Many are familiar with Goddess Lakshmi as the Goddess of abundance. But we forget abundance can have different meanings.
The Mahalakshmi Ashtakam is a sacred scripture, believed to honor the 8 forms of Goddess Lakshmi who grants her devotees 8 forms of wealth including knowledge, victory, patience, power, good luck, children, good food, and of course, money. However, one aspect of her benevolence not mentioned, is the wealth of protection - specifically, spiritual protection. Chanting or listening to this scripture three times a day is believed to grant a person defeat over enemies.
During this time period, many of us are realizing our true enemies are aspects of ourselves in need of healing. I pray that as you listen to this original composition, you are protected from the external world, but also from the harshness which can accompany these realizations. It is uncomfortable to recognize opportunities for change, yet even harder to remain stagnant when we know we’re capable of addressing these “enemies.”
By accepting the darkest parts of ourselves, we begin to free ourselves from those chains.
