A Deep Dive into the Consequences of Emotional Desensitization

The average American spends 3-8 hours a day as a slave to their phone. We find ourselves at the beck and call of social media, app notifications, etc. and forget each time we witness something good OR bad, our reaction is an expenditure of our energy. If you think about it, energy is a form of currency - we already see this on social media platforms like YouTube where we pay for a subscription simply to be freed from advertising interruptions.
A Deep Dive into Emotional Desensitization
But on a deeper level, our energetic reserves are our essence. When we combine the micro-leakages caused by every day life it’s metaphorically equivalent to a faucet leaking. Whether it’s caring too much about what we see on social media, or feeling emotional towards something we hear about from our loved ones, these examples slowly drain our energy over time and deplete our energetic savings.
As time passes, we start to feel numb towards news of the incomprehensible. We know this numbness is abnormal, but there’s no empathy left because our energetic bank account has been emptied. It affects us on so many levels. We’re unable to resonate with the events of the world, and simultaneously find ourselves becoming distant from our loved ones & families.
So to save the humanity within ourselves in a world where our virtual presence is just as impactful as the 3D we must first bolster our energetic reserves. We start by preventing the micro-withdrawals of our energy by becoming cognizant of where we’re directing it & where it is leaking.
It's Time to Pour Back into Ourselves
Next year, our emotional threshold will be tested. We’ll see people snap out of desensitization in the process of their spiritual awakenings. We can’t allow the ongoing progressive desensitization to disconnect us from the capacity we have to support one another. The best thing we can do is allow ourselves to reconnect with our feelings. The more we can feel, the more we’re connected with our intuition, and the easier the collective awakening will be.
If this is you, feeling disconnected from spirit is not your fault. As an example, consider mainstream media and the tools used to garner ratings. Violence is a known tool for sensationalism. Chaos draws attention, and the more it is broadcast by the media, the higher their associated ratings. Over time, the public naturally becomes accustomed to hearing news of certain things.
2025 - The Year You Reconnect with Your Energy
Start by taking small measures to stop this now. Work on lowering your cortisol levels. If you’re already feeling numb, take a break from watching the news or anything which feels draining. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for putting yourself first. Try somatic exercise & set firm boundaries on who has access to you. Take a step back if you notice other people are trying to trigger you to empathize with pain they’ve been feeling.
If you start to feel numb, take it as a sign to be a little more selfish. Your energy is sacred, and healing yourself will support the collective awakening.
